  1. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm new to starting a channel and I really needed too hear and see this.

  2. I adore you! I’ve been binge watching your videos for days now. So glad I rediscovered your channel. I totally forgot about it because YouTube is crappy at recommending videos I like. Thank you for all your hard work! ❤️

  3. did you start off with a ring light? how did you do your lighting and what did you film with when you first started out?

  4. Jess! Thanks so much for making this video. I've been wanting to try vlogging but haven't because I don't have the equipment. But now I may end up filming this week! 🙂

  5. I found this very helpful as I have always wondered about how others set up because I am never sure how to set my own stuff up. Thanks Jess! I love it 🙂 happy filiming

  6. thank you, you're very inspiring! i'm one of those who doesn't know how to get started, but you make it sound so simple. i don't have an iphone but i have an android – i'm sure it will do the same thing! hoping someone will check mine out as soon as i start putting them up! thanx again! 🙂

  7. Great video. Thank you for saying all you need is just your iphone and natural light because …I just started my channel and I only use my Ipad and sometimes my cell phone by natural light. What i can not figure out is how to get my makeup tutorials to show up say the pigments of eyeshadow, blush or lipstick true to color. I am beside my self upset about that. In photos they show up. urrgghh. Any ideas please? I subscribed to you now that I have an account but been watching you forever!!! Love your decluttered one think few years back how it made me do it.

  8. Thanks for sharing. It's always interesting to me to see other peoples' beauty setups. It's interesting to see 'how other people live' and how they decide to set up their spaces and also hear about what works and doesn't work.

  9. Thank you for the heads up on these lights! I can't wait to get a camera like yours. It'll really improve the quality of our videos. We started our channel in October, and we admire you so much that we aspire to get to where you are now! Thank you for all of your content!

  10. So helpful. I want to start a channel just for fun. But everybody has these really expensive cameras and things. Thanks so much

  11. You may want to consider recycling when you unbox rather than just trashing. Many things we consider "trash" have a future life. Thanks for sharing and good luck in your new home. The first home is always an exciting time!

  12. I started with my laptop webcam on my bed and learned quickly that the computer shouldn't have been on the bed too!! This is a great video. I love how transparent you are! Starting a channel in the beauty community is so intimidating because not very many people show their "behind the scenes".

  13. For some reason this video and your makeup room remind me of the video that Emily Noel recently did showing her new room. Thanks for sharing! ☺

  14. Thank you so much for this video! I was one of the people who waited for years because I didn't have the right stuff. I finally decided to just do it! Something you said in your last live chat inspired me to go for it. I've been a subscriber for a couple years now. Love ya, girl!

  15. Thanks for the behind the scenes look at what you use. It is very helpful. I can't wait to get a good camera some day. I love yours! The feature of the screen flipping so that you can see what you are filming is wonderful. TFS.

  16. Thank you so much for a great video. I'm psyched up to just go ahead and start because yeah I'm stuck in that rut…. I have to have all this equipment to get started mindset. I'm totally gonna get those cheap lights that you showed us that's really cool.

  17. Thank you so much for this! I am just starting out – 2 videos published – and I am trying to figure out logistical things like equipment and setup. This is so helpful!
